How do I upload my site (FTP)?

Caution! Your website should be located (directly, or in a subfolder) in the www/ directory. The www/ directory is NEVER to be deleted. You may remove the contents but you may not remove or make changes to the directory itself.

If you already have a website ready on your computer, you will need your FTP account to upload it online in your hosted files. Here is how:

  1. Get an FTP Client.

To use FTP connection, you will need an FTP client. A free and easy to use FTP client is FileZilla. You can download it from here: https://filezilla-project.org/

  2. Find your FTP details.

After you have installed your FTP client, you need to connect it to your hosting account server. For that you will need your personal FTP account details. You can see / set them up in your hosting control panel. To do that:

    1. Log in your My Combell hosting control panel (https://my.combell.com/en).

      Control Panel

    2. At the top follow 'My Products' > 'Web hosting'.

    3. In the table you will see your hosts. Click on 'Hosting Details' for the host you need to upload your website on.

Here is an example of an FTP client setup

    1. Open both FileZilla and your hosting control panel in the FTP users section (as shown in the previous step). Click on 'Edit' to see details more clearly.

    2. At the top your FTP Client asks for:

      • Host: For Host copy the FTP server from your control panel. Example: ftp.domainname.tld

      • Username: For Username copy the User name from your control panel. Example: yourname@domain.tld

      • Password: If you do not know your password, set a new one from the control panel

      • Port: For Port use the one in the control panel.

    3. Click on Quickconnect in your FileZilla. You will know you did it right if you see the message 'Directory listing successful'.

  4. File transfer. For FileZilla.

    1. In your FileZilla you have two main sections: local site and remote site. The local site is your computer file system – it should look familiar. The remote site is the part of the server, dedicated to your hosting account. You can see the paths at the top.

    2. On remote site chose and open the folder you want to upload to.
